The 17^th Session of the Working Party on Automated/Autonomous and Connected Vehicles (GRVA) was held from September 25 to 29, 2023 at the Palace of Nations in Geneva, attended by a representative of the Connected and Autonomous Vehicles Competence Centre (CK:PAP) Dr. Eng. Artur Gołowicz. During the meeting, the need to introduce changes in the categorization of vehicles equipped with ADS (Automated Driving Systems) was discussed.

The implementation of autonomous vehicles is a long-term venture, fraught with doubts and barriers that are gradually being solved and overcome, both at the technological and legal level, as well as by building understanding and social acceptance. On September 30, 2023, Dr. Eng. Mikołaj Kruszewski, expert of the Connected and Autonomous Vehicles Competence Centre (CK:PAP), took part in a conversation on Polish Radio of Drivers (broadcast "Na luzie"). The main topics of the discussion were global trends in autonomous mobility and the prospects for implementing autonomous vehicles in Poland.

The implementation of automated and autonomous vehicles affects the demand - from the automotive industry - for employees with specific competences, especially in the area of technology and software. The current level of development and implementation of autonomous vehicles in Poland still requires many years of work, so it is important to educate specialists who will contribute to overcoming the barriers related to their implementation.

CK:PAP expert Dr. Eng. Mikołaj Kruszewski was a guest of editor Wiktor Niedzicki on the CiekaWizja YouTube channel. The conversation concerned various aspects of the implementation of automated and autonomous driving, including the benefits, but also the doubts raised by the new technology in drivers and other road users.

On August 7, 2023, an expert of the Connected and Autonomous Vehicles Competence Centre (CK:PAP), MSc. Eng. Aleksandra Rodak was a guest in Program 4 of Polish Radio. During the "Reset" broadcast, autonomous mobility was discussed.

Raising the awareness and level of knowledge among drivers and candidates for drivers in the use of driving automation systems will ensure proper and safe interaction between a human and a vehicle. Traffic participants, and above all drivers, should know the principle of operation of individual systems (especially those installed in their vehicles) and know when their operation may be disrupted.

The advanced driver assistance system - Autobahnassistent - developed by BMW has been approved for use on motorways at speeds up to 130 km/h (81 mph). An additional feature, unique on a global scale, is Active Lane Change Assist, which can be initiated and confirmed by the driver's glance in the exterior mirror. Approval for the use of the systems was issued in June 2023 by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority - Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA).

On June 14-15, 2023, the 5th National Convention entitled "Cross-sector cooperation and innovations for road safety" was held. During the convention, badges were presented for contributions to Road Safety. The badge was received by Dr. Ewa Odachowska-Rogalska, who is CK:PAP expert in the field of psychology of transport.

On May 31, 2023, half a year after the start of the DARTS project - Database of Autonomous vehicles Road Testing Scenarios, the first project task was completed, the purpose of which was to parameterize the Polish road infrastructure.

On May 29-31, 2023, the 14th International Road Safety Conference GAMBIT 2023 was held in Gdańsk, attended by experts from the Connected and Autonomous Vehicles Competence Centre of the Motor Transport Institute (CK:PAP).
