The rapid evolution of autonomous driving technology has recently encountered one of its most critical regulatory and technical challenges to date. According to official documentation from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), specifically the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) report PE25013, a comprehensive investigation has been launched into Waymo LLC’s 5th Generation Automated Driving System (ADS).

The III Warsaw Forum of Driver Training Centres (OSK) and Driving Instructors focused on key changes to driver training and examinations planned for 2026, as well as challenges linked to the growing prevalence of modern vehicle technologies. The event was opened by the Deputy Director of WORD (Voivodeship Road Traffic Centre), Mr. Tomasz Matuszewski, who emphasized the importance of cooperation between OSK, examination centres, public institutions, and academic partners to ensure coherent implementation of new regulations and technical solutions.

The turn of 2025 and 2026 marks a fundamental shift in the European approach to autonomous technologies. With the finalization of the "Automotive Package 2025," the European Union is moving from restricted testing phases toward full-scale commercialization of Level 3 and Level 4 vehicles. Central to this transition is the "Automotive Omnibus" initiative, designed to remove the bureaucratic hurdles that previously hindered mass production.

On December 18, 2025, the President of the Republic of Poland signed the amendment to the Road Traffic Act. This act constitutes a fundamental change in the Polish legal system, adapting it to the challenges associated with the implementation of autonomous vehicle technologies and defining the role of supervisory institutions.

Representatives of the Connected and Autonomous Vehicles Competence Centre (CK:PAP) – Aleksandra Rodak and Monika Ucińska – took part in this year’s edition of International Mobility Days 2025, organised by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. The event, considered one of the most important international meetings dedicated to modern mobility, brought together experts, business leaders and public-sector representatives from across the world, creating a platform for showcasing innovations and exchanging knowledge in the rapidly evolving transport sector.

The Motor Transport Institute hosted two delegations of journalists - from the Republic of South Africa (RSA) and the United States (USA) on November 14th. The visits were conducted under the framework of the „Brand Hub MŚP” project, which aims to promote the Polish brand of an innovative economy and the technological potential of Polish SMEs globally

On October 14, 2025, experts from the Connected and Autonomous Vehicles Competence Centre (CK:PAP) attended a meeting of the joint Infrastructure Committee and the Local Government and State Administration Committee of the Senate of the Republic of Poland. One of the key agenda items was the Act Amending the Road Traffic Act, which provides for the creation of a legal framework facilitating the testing of automated vehicles on public roads in Poland.

On 16–17 September, the International Conference “Psychology of Mobility – Shaping Future Transport Behaviors” was held, organized by the Center for EU Transport Projects, the Motor Transport Institute, and the City and Municipality of Skawina. The event, conducted within the framework of the Transport Research Observatory, gathered experts, practitioners, representatives of public administration and research institutions, as well as a broad audience of participants. The conference was held under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

The Motor Transport Institute hosted researchers from the University of Virginia (USA). Professor Matthew Panzer, an expert in injury biomechanics, and Dr. Bronisław Gepner, a specialist in human body modeling and road user protection, visited Warsaw. The meeting fostered an exchange of experience in transport safety research.
