Computer system for supporting and verifying psychological diagnostics

The Vienna Test System (VTS) is currently the only comprehensive psychological diagnostic support system dedicated to driver psychological testing, with functions that cannot be implemented by any other computer-based psychological testing kit available on the market.
This device contains dozens of tests designed to assess various human abilities. The range of VTS applications is very broad and includes the following areas of application: road transport psychology, rail transport psychology, aviation psychology, sports psychology, organizational and work psychology.
The high psychometric value is one of the greatest advantages of this computer-based so-called “test battery” (reliability for driver tests r>0.70, validity, normalization, objectification, standardization) compared to standard apparatus methods. Distributors provide tests and manuals containing comprehensive information about the test, theoretical foundations, and detailed descriptions of psychometric goodness criteria, along with described standards for different test versions. Thanks to research conducted by the VTS manufacturer, it can be concluded that there is a high correlation between test results and drivers’ behaviour in non-test situations. Another advantage of this computer-based battery of tests is the ability of psychologists to conduct research more efficiently, thanks to the automatic processing of research results and standards by a computer program.
The system consists of several components, the basic one being a workstation consisting of a computer with a monitor, on which the tests and system administration software are installed. Additionally, the system includes external devices operated by the test subject during the relevant tests. These include a universal panel equipped with function buttons and joysticks, a peripheral vision test device (used in the PP test), pedals, and a motor skills test device.
The test, which uses the Vienna Test System, is administered individually to each participant. Each test is preceded by an instructional phase, followed by a practice phase (which allows for familiarization with the specifics of the test), during which the person taking the test is informed of any errors he or she has made. Test results are received immediately after completion. The program summarizes the test results and presents them in relation to norms. The Vienna Test System provide results converted to a ten and percentile scale, which provides greater precision in assessment compared to sten scores.
The system includes the following psychological tests:
- 2HAND – Two-Hand Coordination Test
