Meeting with the Vilnius University of Technology as part of the ERASMUS + program
On May 16-18, 2023, a five-person delegation of scientists from the Faculty of Transport Engineering of the Vilnius University of Technology (Vilnius Gediminas Technical University – VILNIUS TECH) visited Motor Transport Institute (ITS). The official visit of guests from Lithuania took place as part of the ERASMUS+ community programme.
During the meeting, both institutions presented the areas of their activity and research opportunities. VILNIUS TECH showed also the results of their research on, among others, the use of various types of ADAS in real conditions and aspects of safe participation in road traffic, such as driving under the influence of alcohol or using a mobile phone while driving.
Representatives of ITS and the Connected and Autonomous Vehicles Competence Centre (CK: PAP) presented the Centre’s activities, including the results of the exploration of ongoing projects, analyses on the psychology of transport, autonomy, cost optimization and exhaust emissions.
VILNIUS TECH had the opportunity to see research equipment , which is at the disposal of CK:PAP. Particular interest was aroused by driving simulators (passenger car, truck and bus). The delegation from Vilnius also got acquainted with the activities of the Environment Protection Centre, in particular in the field of exhaust gas emission testing.
At the end of the meeting both sides agreed on an interest of bilateral cooperation in future joint scientific projects, including the area of ADAS application, psychological tests of drivers, assessment of the effectiveness of semi-autonomous solutions in terms of safety and driving comfort.
The meeting on behalf of ITS and CK:PAP was attended by: Małgorzata Zysińska, Monika Ucińska, Kamila Gąsiorek and Piotr Wiśniowski.
