Renault: real-world demonstration of Level 4 minibuses at Roland-Garros 2024
“Humans are responsible for 80 percent of the consequences of accidents. From the manufacturer’s point of view, the idea is to eliminate this factor through safety couching.” – said Andrzej Gemra from Renault Group Poland during an expert debate co-organized by CK:PAP.
Renault’s vision is based on the principle that innovations only make sense when they are shared, economically accessible and truly useful to as many people as possible. So far, the brand has looked at autonomous mobility from the point of view of individual customers. However, according to the press release of May 15, 2024, the company also sees its future in public transport.
The plans are ambitious – Renault intends to be an important player in the field of sustainable and autonomous mobility. To this end, the Group is developing an electric miniBus platform that will support various driving automation technologies provided by specialized partners. The brand cooperates with WeRide, a company dealing with autonomous vehicles, for the large-scale commercial implementation of minibuses with level 4 automation (previously also with EasyMile and Milla).
Renault said it will demonstrate the capabilities of autonomous minibuses at the Rolland Garros tennis tournament in Paris later this month. Electric and autonomous minibuses will facilitate access to the stadium from the P2 parking lot (located on the outskirts of the Bois de Boulogne) from May 26 to June 9, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On the return journey, vehicles will run to Place de la Porte d’Auteuil or back to car park P2.
