"Vehicles of the Future" – a conference at the Motor Transport Institute as part of the 10th Polish Ecological Rally
On Thursday, 30 April 2026, the Motor Transport Institute (Instytut Transportu Samochodowego) in Warsaw hosted the “Vehicles of the Future” scientific conference and accompanying workshops, organised as part of the 10th Polish Ecological Rally (Rally-Conference) of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The event combines a showcase of alternative vehicle designs, a scientific conference, and a rally following the trail of distinguished Poles and sites of significance to the nation’s history. This year’s edition is held under the motto “Remembrance of the past as the foundation for defending the sovereignty and prosperity of the Republic of Poland.”
The meeting was opened by the Director of the Institute, Marcin Ślęzak, who presented the agenda. Subsequently, Col. Prof. Mieczysław Struś expressed his gratitude to the Director for organising the event.
The substantive part, featuring representatives of the Motor Transport Institute, comprised four presentations:
- Dagmara Jankowska-Karpa, PhD Eng., Przemysław Skoczyński, MA, and Anna Zielińska, MSc Eng., The Role of the Polish Road Safety Observatory in Shaping Road Traffic Safety
- Magdalena Laskowska-Zimakowska, PhD Eng., The Impact of Alternative Energy Sources on Pollutant Emissions in Transport
- Małgorzata Pełka, PhD Eng., Vehicle Automation and Driver Responsibility – Operating Principles and Limitations of ADAS
- Anna Niedzicka, Data Acquisition with a Research Vehicle in the DARTS-PL Project
Following the presentations, participants had the opportunity to tour the driving simulator laboratory, where experts from CK:PAP outlined its research capabilities and previous studies conducted with the use of simulators. A key item on the agenda was the demonstration of the technical capabilities and fields of application of the mobile measurement platform developed at the Motor Transport Institute under the DARTS-PL project, funded by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR). The applications presented included the development of a national database of road scenarios reflecting the specific characteristics of Polish infrastructure and driver behaviour, as well as the creation of digital twins of real-world traffic situations.
All the presentations were met with considerable interest from the participants.
